After 26 years of being retained by clients to help them find, negotiate and acquire property, at Premier Property Search we are used to interpreting our clients’ property needs and requirements.
Sometimes, having gone through what can be a long process to find exactly what a client is looking to buy, we find ourselves halted at the last stages …
The deal has been agreed, both parties in the transaction are happy with the terms that had been reached; the timing of exchange and completion finalised. The offer settled, subject to contract and a full structural survey.
Pretty standard practice so far…
The detailed survey report was sent and the key issues digested and noted. The conclusions identified several defects that ideally should be undertaken as a precaution.
All seemed well and on track until the last paragraph. The surveyor, who we have been recommending for many years, states ‘of course you do appreciate that the house is haunted’!!
Unbeknown, the surveyor has an ability to communicate with spirits and ghosts. In his report he confessed to having had a conversation with a man dressed in a soldier’s uniform dating back to the 17th century in the inner-hall. When inspecting the third floor in what used to be servants quarters many years ago, he was confronted with a friendly ‘house-maid’!
The surveyor took these encounters in his stride and was not fazed by this experience saying it is a regular occurrence and part of his role; meanwhile the clients are having reservations about exchanging contracts!
To be continued!
