We originally asked Nigel to find a house for our young family in early 2009.
The task was challenging for two reasons: firstly, we changed our target area within two months of the start of our search and secondly, we had to contend with difficult market conditions which resulted in a scarce supply of available housing stock within our budget.
During the summer, Nigel found an ideal family house for us and we exchanged in October 2009, for completion in early 2010. Nigel was the consummate professional throughout the process and sensitive to our changing needs. At the same time, he approached the search with a vigour and energy that - frankly - would embarrass men half his age.
He was excellent at ensuring that we felt availed of all the relevant information of the properties he had viewed on our behalf but without making us feel inundated. I cannot recommend him enough to prospective house purchasers.

Dear Nigel
Now that the dust has settled a bit following our purchase, I am finally able to write the letter which I have been meaning to write to your for a long time to thank you for your fantastic assistance with the purchase.
It has become a cliché to say that something could not have been achieved without the involvement of a particular person, but this is absolutely true in our case. We simply would not have found this glorious property without you; still less would we have been able to enter into an agreement with the vendors which allowed us to negotiate and move to exchange of contracts without the hassle and anxiety of competitive open-market bids for the property.
As everyone acknowledges, the market for good properties in Hampshire has been very difficult for purchasers this year. We had the further difficulty that we had decided to move to the country from London without any prior knowledge of the area. As a result, it was absolutely essential that we were able to obtain from our agent good, straightforward and utterly reliable advice, as well as fast, flexible and efficient responses in answering our queries and dealing with estate agents, vendors and others. You provided all this and much, much more.
First, we had the enormous benefit of your in-depth knowledge of the country, its different areas and all aspects of Hampshire life, and of properties coming onto the market which were likely to be of interest. Your early intelligence as to what properties might be coming up for sale was absolutely vital in a market where good properties were so sparse. You also kept scrupulously to the brief which we gave you, and you did not try to interest us in properties which did not suit our stated requirements. This was important, since we had to juggle work and childcare arrangements to travel down from London to view potential targets. However, when we changed our requirements radically after two months you were also able to respond immediately with new and worthwhile recommendations.
Perhaps even more impressive, however, was the service you provided by way of advice and recommendations as to others who might be able to give us good and speedy professional advice and assistance with aspects of our property search.
You were able to recommend an excellent firm of solicitors who dealt with the conveyancing at very short notice with great speed, impeccable efficiency and thoroughness, and at a reasonable cost; a surveyor who was able to carry out a survey and provide a complete and detailed report on two properties in which we expressed an interest within days of initial instructions, again for a very reasonable fee; and an architect who attended one of the properties in which we were interested within 24 hours and provided preliminary advice without obligation as to the potential cost of renovations which might be required. In addition, your attention to detail was remarkable, whether in drawing up our initial plan of introduction to Hampshire; or when we were viewing properties, where you always managed to point out topographical and structural features which we would have overlooked; or when we were putting together an offer. In all this, you were always thinking ahead and ‘outside the box’. Where many other property agents may try to boast an equal knowledge of the area and market, I cannot believe that they would be able to match the value which you added in all these crucial respects.
Last but not least, dealing with you and Barbara over these six frantic months was a real pleasure. As you know, we had disappointments when the first property on which we made an offer was suddenly withdrawn from the market, and then when the second property in which we were interested was beset by legal problems. Nevertheless, you were always forward-looking and ready to discuss matters with us at all times of day with complete frankness combined with great discretion (I am unsure how you managed this combination). As a result, we always looked forward to our sometimes daily telephone discussions (sorry!) and our days out visiting properties with you – plenty of sound advice, useful hints and insights into the local area and, crucially, lots of fun.
And now we have moved into the house of our dreams. Emma and I are delighted with it, and the boys are so happy here. Thank you very, very much for making this possible. We all wish you and Barbara continued success with Premier Property Search. It is clearly the result of very hard work and long experience, and is richly deserved. We would have no hesitation in recommending Premier Property Search to any other prospective purchasers.
